Canine Good Citizenship Program (CGC) is a certification for dogs that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. This program lasys the foundation for other AKC activities such as obedience, agility, tracking, pet therepy, and performance events. As you work with your dog to teach the CGC skills, you will discover the many benefits and joys of training your dog, and enhance the bond between you and your dog. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.

Pet Therepy dogs visit health care facilities, schools, and residential institutions to provide emotional support to children and adults. These dogs are there to be stroked, held, and sometimes just watched. Dogs are tested to determine their behavior and attitude in mock public and institutional situations. These tests include basica commands, walking through a crowd, meeting/greeting a friendly stranger, and response to medical equipment, such as wheelchairs and walkers. Pet therepy certification gives you additional peace of mind (never a guarantee) that your dog was successfully tested to be non-aggressive and not skittish, mannerly in mock social situations, and obedient to your basic commands.

Eash session focuses on both CGC and therepy dog skills to be successful in passing the evaluations. The fee for both the CGC/therepy dog classes is $100.00 for unlimited class sessions for prior students and $200.00 (unlimited class sessions) for individuals that have not previously taken any of Rick’s classes.
